Synopsis
The mixing console does much more than just mix audio signals. It functions as the nerve centre of a control room, giving the engineer control over signal levels, spectral balance and destination of input signals.

It also allows splitting of a single signal into multiple paths for use by other devices.

Futhermore, it allows the operator to monitor various parts of the signal path, and to get a visual indication of signal levels by means of metering or other indication of overload states.

This module introduces you to the two main types of console and helps you better understand the various console functions described above.
