Synopsis
A good mix is invariably the aim of sound engineers once the work of recording to multitrack is over.

Good engineers achieve a professional-sounding mix that can both move you and complement the music. They shape the raw material of sound into the final product that you hear through their skills, ability and experience.

They also usually have an excellent knowledge of the nature of sound (see our related module "Sound for Sound Engineers"), are familiar with modifying audio signals (see our related module "Signal Processors), and understand the importance of EQ (see our related module "Equalisers & EQ")

This module offers insights into some technical aspects of mixing which may well help you see the underlying structure driving the complex process of mixing.

Using the approach detailed here may well help you develop your own individual style based on sound technical foundations.
